Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Dr. Amorette Hanna completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Florida (Go Gators). She went on to attend optometry school at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she graduated with honors. During her optometric education, Dr. Hanna received several distinctions including Cooper Vision’s “Excellence in Contact Lens” award as well as induction into both the Beta Sigma Kappa and Gold Key International Optometric Honor Societies. Dr. Hanna received extensive training in contact lenses, dry eye, glaucoma, and retinal disease, though her particular areas of interest are pediatrics and myopia management.
Dr. Hanna is actively involved in local and global outreach. She has been on several overseas mission trips and has served as a volunteer optometrist at Samaritan Health Center in Durham since 2017.
Outside of work, Dr. Hanna enjoys being outdoors, traveling, crafting, reading, and baking. She has combined her love of baking and optometry in a fun, educational blog called Eyecing on the Cake.
