Dr. Stephanie Whitacre was born in Tennessee and raised in the small rural town of South Boston, VA. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. She went on to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry where she graduated with a Doctorate of Optometry in 1999.
After graduating, Dr. Whitacre made her way back to Virginia to complete a year-long fellowship in Ocular Disease and Refractive Surgery with Capital Eye Consultants in Fairfax, VA. She then returned to Birmingham, AL, where she spent 3 years working for a group practice and directing their LaserVision division before realizing she wished to be closer to family in Virginia and North Carolina. Dr. Whitacre has been seeing patients in the Triangle area of North Carolina since 2003 and is excited to be part of the Holly Springs Clarity Vision team.
Dr. Whitacre is a member of the American Optometric Association, the NC State Optometric Society, the Eastern District Optometric Society and volunteers for Prevent Blindness North Carolina. She and her husband Garth (whom she met on e-Harmony) enjoy good food, good wine, traveling both stateside and abroad, and taking care of their fur-kids (who are all former rescues from Second Chance Pet Adoptions in Cary). Her other spare-time activities include reading, running, swimming, and yoga.
